Dartington C.A.L.F. Project

I went to Dartington School of Arts the other week to sketch dancers experimenting with using new technologies (the C.A.L.F. project). It was a challenge for them to use lighting and sound to aid their dance (which they saw as a very organic thing) rather than let the technology overwhelm their performances. They were definitely successful; the dance was the most important element of the performances but the technology helped them to explore dance further. These are the two images I produced for the website from my sketches. They are both based on the type of lighting technology and dance styles they used as well as conveying conceptual meanings about the experience as a whole.
